Rockford - Dixon -  Naperville

It isn't far from Rockford to Naperville but I crossed the width of Illinois twice to get from one to the other.  I left Rockford towards Byron before turning west towards the Mississippi Palisades State Park.

The lookout points overlooking the Mississippi give wonderful views of the great river. The State Park is also home to bald eagles - didn't see any as it is too early for them - but I did see some wild turkey and deer.

I crossed and recrossed the river at Sabula and headed southeast from Savanna to Dixon. Dixon, situated on the Rock River, is the childhood home of Ronald Reagan.

It was getting late so I took Interstate 88 straight to Naperville.
