Montrose - Colorado Springs

Having not seen much, apart from the excellent visitor centre, the day before, we decided to drive back up to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We were obviously the only visitors to the park that early in the day but we enjoyed the peace and quiet of a wintery spring day. It was also clear enough to see the canyon and its incredible cliffs. They look like they have paintings on them but they are only seams of stones. We went down most of the trails although some were difficult due to the deep snow. Because it was quiet, we saw many animals close up.

As it was late in the day, we drove straigh to Colorado Springs via Canon City. We drove up to see the famous Broadmoor Hotel - very impressive
