Seattle - Kelso
I've always been told that it rains non-stop in Seattle but the sun was shining and it was warmer than usual for the time of year.
We left the city, travelling south. Our first stop was the Mount Rainier National Park. We entered by the Nisqually entrance and by the time we reached Paradise, it was very cold and very snowy. Unfortunately, we didn't see much of Mount Rainier that day!!
We then made our way to Mount St. Helens Volcanic Monument. I come from a family of Geographers / Geologists and, needless to say, found the information centre extremely interesting. I can remember when Mount St. Helens blew, following it on television but never thinking I would one day see it for myself.
We stayed the night at Kelso. Nearby there is an amazing bridge over the River Columbia at Longview.
